Male-male standoffs have male threads on each end allowing for the connection of 2 female threaded components together. As a result, they are often utilized as an adapter for other components as these standoffs can come with either the same sized threads, or different sized external threads on each end. Furthermore, the unthreaded hex body of these connectors provides for easy wrench tightening for a solid connection between components. The hex shape allows for greater torquing as the flat sides allow for wrench tightening. Steel is inexpensive, easy to achieve finer surface quality requirements and provides relatively high strength properties. Multiple plating options are available to increase the material's corrosion resistance and alter its appearance.
